Thunder in my Soul [song lyric]
Waking up to thunder:
It was rumbling in my soul
but I didn’t hear a sound come from the sky.
Then it tore me clean asunder
and my joyfulness it stole
but I still won’t be dissatisfied.
There’s a special kind of lightning
makes a flash without a sound;
you never hear it coming till it’s come.
When it struck it wasn’t frightening
though it threw me to the ground
while my heart and veins were frozen numb.
Thunder in my soul
Lightning in my head
Just the normal business of the day
That’s what it’s all about
I couldn’t live without
stormy passion fateful overlay
[Threw myself in orbit
thunderflashing cloud
didn’t have a compass
just a typhoon for a shroud]
So I sheltered in the open
far away from trees;
looked up to the sky with arms spread wide.
Then a bolt came in slow-motion
and burnt me by degrees:
My words are now electrified.
Surrendering to the shadows
I mourned what could have been
and put my gun and arrows in the drawer.
I’ll follow where the flood flows
(the torrent unforeseen)
then I’ll hide but I won’t lock the door
Thunder in my soul
Lightning in my head
Just the normal business of the day
That’s what it’s all about
I couldn’t live without
stormy passion fateful overlay
