The Dark before the Dawn [song lyric]

Posted on Updated on

There were no leaves on the tree
Bare branches glanced before my eyes
No flowers there that I could see
Nothing there for my surprise

There was no light from the sky
No stars were shining in the blue
No matter how much I try
Dark looms in everything I do

Refrain:
Just then a voice came in my head
I knew the lines had been redrawn
“Don’t worry anymore”, it said
“The darkest hour’s before the dawn”

Vocal Bridge:
Nearly gave up
I couldn’t save any
strength to straighten out my soul
Then that voice came
and made my heart flame
I saw the window in my hole

Dry as dust in my mouth
Tongue was clinging to my teeth
Grit them down make them ground
Nothing brought me any peace

There was no food on my plate
(In these metaphors I speak)
It’s on thin ice that I skate
Never been before so weak

Refrain:
Just then a voice came in my head
I knew the lines had been redrawn
“Don’t worry anymore “, it said
“The darkest hour’s before the dawn”

And so I now see the light
without which there’d be no dark
Rough and smooth blind and sight
Hills and valleys leave their mark
