“Just Rise Above It All” [new song video with lyrics]
🎞LIVING-ROOM VIDEO #44🎞: “Just Rise Above It All”. This is a video of a song I just wrote. It woke me up the night before last and wouldn’t let me go back to sleep until I’d written down the first verse. I finished it yesterday. I hope it gives comfort to some. Here are the lyrics:
When you’ve done your best,
but that just is not good enough
for those determined to put you down,
I say just rise above it all.
When your friends reveal
that they’re not truly friends for real,
(as most will do as the time goes by),
I say just rise above it all.

Rise through the waves of disdain you receive.
Don’t care what others will say.
Those in your tribe (if you have one) will be
rising with you and will stay.
When you’ve seen right through
all the things you’ve been taught were “right”
but now can see that they’re devoid of light,

When you’re on your own
and your kids snub you cos they’ve “grown”,
put you out in the twilight zone,
I say just rise above it all.

Fly through the clouds of confusion and pain.
You don’t belong in this sphere.
Know that you answer to no one with flesh —
no more frustration or fear.
When you realise
those around you are slaves to lies,
turn their backs towards what is wise,
I say just rise above it all.
When you feel your time
is being wasted and no more rhymes —
and life is only a pantomime,
I say just rise above it all.

Don’t be a player in others’ poor shows;
you’re the director, not they.
There’s a Producer who most will ignore.
Rise up and scent that bouquet.

you’ll achieve what the world denies,
then you’ll find that you’ve alchemized

Oh my dear friend – what a fresh and sweet new song from your heart! So encouraging to think about all the promises the world makes and falls short of keeping are the very reason to rise to higher ground. Rise and stay there was an excellent way to close this narrative; the place to possess our souls … the real Promised Land with the Jordan River shut back up. Was moved this morning already about being content as sojourners and exiles in this world – as attitude adjustment for working with the refugees here. Our stability and strength lies elsewhere They are not really at home here and neither are we. This song has exactly the right touch as all such inspiration does that comes in the middle of the night! A map with the exact coordinates of home. 😊 ❤
