“If You Can Answer Yes” [Living-Room Video #45]

Posted on

“IF YOU CAN ANSWER ‘YES’!”, Living-Room Video #45. This is a song about real connection in relationships. As I recently wrote: “I would never get into a relationship unless it was based on a mutual desire to create a masterpiece”. In this song you can see the brush-strokes behind such a masterpiece. I would even say that this song is a vivid example of verbal foreplay. (That should freak a few folks out! 😉). . Click above to watch the video. Here are the lyrics:

Do you have the time of day to play around me?
Are you always there in some small special way?
Do you love to sleepy talk at 3am time
with the someone who in your sweet bed does lay?

Have you always moved whichever way your heart goes?
Do you light the day up with your lantern laugh?
Do you refuse to follow fads of fashion?
Do you see your journey as a sacred path?

Are you never fazed by people’s weird behaviour?
Can you see through all the games played by the powers?
Is your mouth a window to sweet words of beauty?
Do you bathe at least once every twenty hours?

[Refrain]
If you can answer “yes!”
to all the questions in this song,
then here I must express
that for your presence now I long,
I long, how I long, I long — yes, I long, O I long!

Do you have the kind of face to wake up next to
every morning, never losing the surprise?
Are you shrouded in a cloud of golden mystery?
Are you by my crazy ways electrified?

If I stroke your skin will I think that it is velvet?
Will your eyes be pools where I could drown my heart?
Will I follow you because I just can’t help it?
Do you have a sense of humour razor-sharp?

Will we fit ourselves together like a jigsaw?
Will I never want our hot embrace to end?
If we ever (God forbid) had altercations
will we quickly find a way to make amends?

[Refrain]
If you can answer “yes!”
to all the questions in this song,
then here I must express
that for your presence I now long!
I long, how I long, I long — yes, I long, O I long!

Can you put up with me if I need some cave-time?
Would you love me just the same when I’m a mess?
Can you walk for ages without ever speaking?
Will I be full of wonder when you dress?

Is there something of the child left in your lifestyle?
Is your soul so old, your inner thoughts so wise?
Do you love to look at Venus, Mars and Saturn
in the moisty mistless clearsome night-time skies?

Would you see through every mask that I invented?
Will you gently smile each time I play defence?
Do you like to kiss as if there’s no tomorrow —
live for the moment, no more future tense?

[Refrain]
If you can answer “yes!”
to all the questions in this song,
then here I must express
that for your presence I now long!
I long, how I long, I long — yes, I long, O I long!

Do you have no inhibitions in the bedroom?
Are you never ruled by mere conformity?
Do you refuse to follow where the crowd goes,
’cause you’d rather be surprised by where you’ll be?

Does your passion compass have no limitations?
Is your creativity an endless flow?
When Mercury, the planet, sometimes stations,
can you ignore such incidents and grow?

When you wear a dress or skirt do you feel lovely?
Do you crave to feel the sun’s rays on your skin?
Have you seen that this strange world is like a dreamscape?
Have you found the golden key to you within?

[Refrain]
If you can answer “yes!”
to all the questions in this song,
then here I must express
that for your presence I now long!.
I long, how I long, I long — yes, I long, O I long!

Do you see your life as, firstly, an adventure —
this world as just a fleeting low-end gym?
Is “synchronicity” a word of splendour?
Do you, in lively seas, just love to swim?

Does your strength align with gentleness inside you?
Have you worked through all the anger in your heart?
Do you know contentment when you’re on your ownsome,
yet still long for me if we must be apart?

And, finally, I have to ask three questions:
Is music more important than “the news”?
Do you share a little joke with this vast cosmos?
Does Mozart turn you on more than the blues?

[Final Refrain]
I gave up long ago.
Though I’d love to be proved wrong,
if you can answer “yes!”
to all the questions in this song,
this song, how I long, I long, in this song, for you I long!
