No More June-Moon-Spoon [new song video]
LIVING-ROOM VIDEO #81: “No More June-Moon-Spoon”. This new song is my response (in a love song!) to a message I have received more than once, saying “How come you don’t write love songs anymore?” So here is a new true-love song. I hope you find it uplifting. The lyrics are below:
The message said, “Why aren’t you writing love songs?”
But all I write is based (I hope) on love.
For pop-song ‘love’ depends on automatons
and “June, moon, spoon” is not what I’m part of.
I will gladly write a song about a friendship,
or even on a buddy who’s been real.
But songs about infatuation aren’t hip;
for it’s suspect what subjectively I feel.
[Refrain]
True love is always song within itself;
and sung by one who loves with all the soul.
It does not care if left ‘upon the shelf’,
for to make oneself secure is not its goal.
It just may have escaped your fine attention
that mostly acts of love (true love) are hid
away from public view through good intention.
For modesty hides all that loveness did.
It seems that we are constantly mistaking
true love for sentimental schmaltz or mush.
The time has come that we should be awaking;
love’s not infatuation or a crush!
[Refrain]
True love is always song within itself;
and sung by one who loves with all the soul.
It does not care if left ‘upon the shelf’,
for to make oneself secure is not its goal.
I think we need to redefine what love means.
For it’s become corrupted by the songs
which make it all about what someone’s self gleans.
That’s not a place where love (true love) belongs.
For love (true love) is all about the giving,
and even laying down our very lives;
and also unconditional forgiving,
and only love can wipe out guns and knives.
[Refrain]
True love is always song within itself;
and sung by one who loves with all the soul.
It does not care if left ‘upon the shelf’,
for to make oneself secure is not its goal.

Very good! Hoping more folks will get on board with this concept of selfless love. Always a chance someone will see themselves in your mirror. 🙂
