I’ve Been Such a Fool (song video)

LIVING-ROOM VIDEO #82, “I’ve Been Such a Fool (and for so long)”. As the song says: “How come we all get wise and only learn to love not long before the time has come to go?” But maybe that is the idea. Here are the full lyrics:

A fool I’ve made of me more than a million times
a laughing-stock I’ve been for all to see.
Now here I go again with several foolish rhymes;
I hope with what’s below you will agree.

I’ve fallen for some girls with shallowness applied,
because their pretty faces took me in.
More foolishness from me, swayed by what lies outside,
and failed to see the shape of soul within.

[Refrain]
We spend the greater portion of our years
on choices based on solely what we see.
That way of life can only end in tears.
Until we look ‘beyond’, we’ll not be free.

So often when I’ve planned to make some major change
in where I am or who I want to be,
I found eventually that everything turned strange
because I’d chosen autonomously.

The bridges that I’ve crossed were often built on dreams
and grass seemed greener on the other side.
But once I ceased to plan based on solely how it ‘seems’,
I found that I enjoyed a richer ride.

Although we fail to see we must answer to a Force
which lies beyond the confines of our eyes —
if we would only look, we’d discover there’s a Source,
and that much of what’s believed is plainly lies.
